JFK will become 3x daily direct, but the YVR-JFK shuttle is going to change to YVR-ORD.
Basically the Chicago service is being launched as a shuttle, with the mid term plan of a direct service whenever the loads/yield develops.

The flight is direct from HKG-ORD. ORD is only about 5 times the size market as YVR, and with AA connecting flights it will be even bigger. If there is a base in Frankfurt on the Euro scale, then surely there will be a 777 base in ORD and JFK in the next year or two. The only thing preventing a base will be lack of US citizens willing to stay at CX after FedEx and UPS begin hiring next year. 34% is still not enough to prevent that from happening. CX may need to order an extra aircraft just for base training at the beginning of 2012!

It is definitely direct HKG-ORD. Who came up with YVR-ORD? That makes zero sense. NYC also can easily handle 3x daily with fourth connection through YVR. Who would ever connect to Chicago, the 3rd largest city in the USA, via YVR? Pointless
