Westjet- Cathay Pacific Interline Agreement

From the Calgary Herald:
CALGARY - WestJet Airlines Ltd. is moving towards a code-share deal with Asian airline Cathay Pacific, signing an interline agreement Tuesday to connect passengers into the Canadian airline’s network.
Travellers on Cathay Pacific can now book tickets to connect to WestJet flights to Vancouver and Toronto, with the option to connect to several cities.
The two airlines have been in discussions for a number of years for such a deal, which allow each airline to put its flight code on a single flight operated by one of the partners as a way to boost reach and frequency, as well as make booking easier for passengers.
But the Calgary-based airline had been hampered by old reservations, which was upgraded last fall.
The Cathay deal follows a similar agreements by WestJet with Air France-KLM and China Airlines.
U.S. carrier Southwest Airlines said last month it was ending code-share talks with WestJet. The move came after WestJet said it was pursuing talks with another U.S. carrier, Delta Air Lines.

Not always so.
For example, CX have on their website a flight to Hanoi under a codeshare with VN. Flt number is CX1791/VN791
Flight is strangely enough operated by VN.
Can you buy an ID90 with VN - Nup!
Can you buy a CX ZED ticket to Hanoi - Nup!
I believe it merely depends on whether there is an interline ticketing agreement with the company in question.

Employee Services

Bob Nippy will be right on that. I am sure he is booked a flight to Calgary as we speak to negotiate higher ID 90’s than the cost of full fare tickets. He has done much for employee services over the years.

Much like the duty travel agreement on Air Canada.
