Governance and Transparency
Interesting snippet in The Standard today:
Practices Start To Make Perfect Sense
Mainland companies used to lag far behind those from Hong Kong in terms of governance and transparency. But now they've caught up.
The latest study on on corporate practices by the Hong Kong Institute of Directors and Baptist University shows five of the 10 best performing firms listed locally are from the mainland. These are Bank of China, China Resources, ICBC, Jiangsu Express and Sinopec.
Mainland companies have shown a vast improvement in the past 15 years since the first H share, Tsingtao Brewery, listed in Hong Kong.
And now it seems Hong Kong firms - especially those that are family-owned - have to solve a few problems of their own or soon find the tables have turned.
