Company PDF manuals on Kindle

I asked my friend who owns one if she would put it on and see how it looks, she says it's good! Sony e-Reader works well too, allegedly.
Personally, I don't see the reason to buy an expensive Kindle to put company manuals on it. When you're flying, the manuals are in the airplane. When you're away on a trip, they're in your laptop, and if you want a paper copy you can check out an updated copy for as long as you want from the CX Library. Besides, you're usually doing a lot of flipping pages looking for something, and the Kindle flips pages a LOT slower than your favorite PDF reader.

I saw some manuals on a sony e-reader some time ago. It was poor at rendering diagrams and was generally hard to use although they may have a new one out by now. If anyone's used one and found it good I'd also be keen to hear. The main problem with them seems to be that they're not made for rendering pdfs so they don't do it very well.
I know what you mean sw but I'd rather have my own copy of manuals, and I can't read them on a computer. I doubt the company would buy us one but if we could find one that works well, they might be able to get a good deal on a bulk order.

I have had all my manuals on a Sony PRS-505, FCOMs, Vol1/2 Port pages etc for some time now, I now use a Sony PRS-600 which is the newer model. Paid under US$200 for each of them.
I like them. I get good battery life, easy to read in sunlight, small, and so far has been bullet proof. I have broken two laptops in my crew bag over the same period. The only feature I missed in the PRS-505 was a PDF search function for doing the technical quiz, the PRS-505 was also harder to navigate pages. The newer Sony PRS-600 which has a larger screen and the ability to search PDFs and a touch screen.
All I do is download the manuals to my personal computer, and then documents are uploaded to the reader via a USB cable. It also has an SD card slot.
A number of different solutions are available, most are greyscale, a lot of hype is about with the new Apple Tablet that is soon to be released which will be full colour with the Apple price tag. Other solutions available include Interead Cool-er, iRex iLiad, Bookeen Opus, Samsung Papyrus, and a host of others are coming onto the market.
Out of all the ones I have played with, Kindle would be the last one I would use. It is really a device to deliver ebooks off Amazon via cell networks in the US.

One quick question: Does the 600 render tables and diagrams well? I think it must have been a 505 (may even have been yours!) that I saw a while ago which seemed to struggle.
