Does anyone know when is B-HNL leaving the fleet?
Hi guys sorry for this odd question, but is there any CX crews here know how long more is the prototype 777 going to stay? Really want to see this bird before it gets send to (well I hope not) desert. Will be awesome if there's a time it be in HK doing checks/maintenance. Thank you very much!

That whole thing about getting rid of the 777-200s was just used as a coercion technique to get pilots to vote yes on SLS, they never intended to actually park them.

Supposedly, they did not get rid of them because no one would buy them.
I'd like to meet the management genius who thought anybody would want to buy these aircrafts.
Those are non-ER high-cycle early airframes which aren't really worth anything, especially not in a recession.
Now that this miserably failed, the plan is to start selling the A340s...
Expect the same failure.

777-200s; wet lease Dhaka- Jeddah. Those who didn't take SLS are top of the list for the Dhaka temp base.
Those 340s that are leased will be returned... assuming they are not leased from a Swire Company

Boeing has always had the repurchase right to B-HNL, so it is more likely to go back to the Boeing museum rather than the desert or another operator. One 772 is owned outright and all the others are financed.
There have been numerous 772 deals which have "fallen through" over the past 6 months, Turkish, Transaero, Jet Airways, Qatar, Ethiopian (wet lease) and also Biman (6 month wet lease). It is still a buyers market, so parking would seem to be likely as each aircraft approaches major maintenance.
Basically 772's, 340's and 744's are up for sale at the moment. Each aircraft has its own pro's and con's. Buyer's will dictate what eventually happens.

much smaller centre tank. ( actually it's not really a centre tank per say, more 2 large pipes between the left and right tanks )
We bought the low gross wt "A" market 200's that cannot be upgraded to higher weights. 247 t MTOW v about 280 t for the ER version just about everyone else bought. Although we did get a good deal as the launch customer along with UA.
The cabin is still original fit ex factory!!
We could convert them to pure freighters but the payload would be only about 50 t with 10 hrs fuel v 100 t for the 777F new.
Them there's the rub!!

Is CX the only airline trying to sell old airframes right now.
They've always prided themselves on the ability to buy aircraft at these times. ie when the market is depressed. To sell their aircraft at this time is a total contradiction in their behaviour.

SQ are releasing 17 of their passenger aircraft this financial year and a large part of that will be their 777-200ERs and -300s (Non ER versions). With those on the market who would buy the Cathay ones unless they were giveaways? A couple of years ago a 777-200A model (ex-BA and Varig) was scrapped because no-one wanted it and that was before the financial crisis.
