Those who had the privilege of knowing and flying with Joe Vellacott (RAAF & CX F/E) will be saddened to learn that Joe passed away yesterday after a long battle with cancer. Joe's funeral will be held at 1100 on Thursday 28th from the All Saints Church, Church St, Boonah which is approx 40 Kms south west of Ipswich Qld.

A sad loss of a damn fine Engineer, and an even better bloke. Will treasure the hangovers we shared! Best memory was barman in KL after we spent many hours in the bar, asking Joe if I was his son. Joe replied "I don't know any woman that ugly!"

Sad news indeed. I had the privilege of flying with Joe many times on the Classic – it was always a pleasure. He was a professional and a gentleman. RIP.
