I for one will NOT be taking unpaid leave OR part time job share or whatever other genius solutions our blinkered management come up with next.
Jeez Trev, finally something we agree on, could this be the start of something beautiful

Detailed Integration Update

This is a further and detail update with regards to KA pilot integration into CX.

We have covered how we will be handling the KA pilot group when the planned integration takes place. With the CX side we are finalizing our wordings so that it will be so confusing and arguable to the point where the HKAOA or any individual pilots for that matter will no legal stand point in the matter. We have done this recently with the induction KA and Oasis pilots directly into Manchester/London and Hong Kong Freight package respectively. We have not been questioned and we will do whatever that suits us. This company is run by managers not employees and there respective association.

We will be exercising para 3.8 under Terms of Employment in the CX Pilot COS. The KA A330 integration into CX will create a rate of expansion of the A330 fleet that will exceed the capability of the CX Check and Training department to train CX pilots on to the KA A330. Hence para 3.8 will allow us to absorb the KA A330 flight crew (Capt/FO) into the Airbus fleet.

The provision was originally intended to be used as a temporary measure, however KA A330 flight crew will not be treated as contract crew and will be employed as CX pilots and hence hold a seniority number on the common seniority list. By doing para 3.8 will be opened to every interpretation and we will make sure the arguments are lengthy and (in our case) valid for keeping former KA pilots on rank and fleet.

In case of any legality issue we are confident that we will not be pursued by individual pilots. HKAOA is ineffective and weak and will be further watered down by the influx of ex-KA membership. We have carried out very questionable actions in the past: DEC on the Freighter, ASL, firing of 49 pilots etc and have never suffered from any dire consequences. Time will be on our side, and with everything that has happened it will be forgotten, pilots have very short memories.

This is the Swire tradition, any actions carried out whether is right or wrong does not need to be justified to anyone.

A320 pilots will hold CX seniority and be employed by CX however will remain seconded to KA until they accrue enough seniority to bid across.

A320 fleet

I was asked by upper management to devise an option so that we have a choice whether we offer Voluntary Severence or not.

As reported by our KA FOP managers, most of the pilots who are unlikely to accept CX employment are already in the A320 fleet. They will be offered to remain with KA but hold no CX seniority. Those on the A330 will be offered a A320 position. If they chose this option their package will remain unchanged, however like the current A Scale, there will be no further improvements to that package and they will be given a memorandum of understanding to sign.

If we choose to repaint the A320/1 fleet in CX colours, remaing KA pilots will be able to operate CX passenger flights on the A320 fleet as the A320/1 is not a widebodied aircraft and thus we will not be violating para. 3.7 Terms of Employment in the CX COS. Thus Dragonair will only operate narrow body aircraft. To maintain the A320/1 as Dragonair aircraft albeit having CX livery, a small black font ‘Operated by Dragonair’ will be placed on the side of the fuselage.

We are looking at ways to maximize the A320/1 Fleet potential in terms of maximizing profits which fits and bodes well with our ‘New Vision’. Once we restart recruitment, new KA flight crew will be offered a new KA COS or Narrow Body COS. Details to follow next week.

I wish you all a pleasant weekend.
