officially low cost

Wow - the hotel in YVR sets new standards for CX...

We must write letters to the AOA regarding this. I don't believe things will change but we must show our dissatisfaction...

What a disgrace!!!

I didn't think there could be anything much worse than the previous sh1thole, but I stand corrected, although not suprised.

This must not be accepted.

It is defiantly worse than the old hotel the bar just keeps on dropping.

Some of other peoples opinions about it

This hotel is in the process of being renovated and will be undergoing a name change just in time for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Currently the West tower has been renovated according to the staff. The room I got was partially renovated new bed, and bathroom, but the rest of it was not. If this is a completed room they have done a poor job. I encountered lots of street noise and lots of noise from the A/C unit.
If you stay here make sure you are not expecting a nice room or don't pay too much.

I hate incompetence. I worked at a front desk before and there is really no need for misinformation. Just keep a book with all pertinent answers to questions at the front desk and add to it as necessary or better yet, put the extra info online so customers can read it themselves! I'm back on the soapbox about pet policy!

This time I asked all the right questions beforehand. Because a king bed couldn't be reserved (?!?), I could only request it upon arrival. When I arrived, I was told that there were no king beds available and that I should come down in the morning and ask again. In the morning, I was shocked to find out that all the pet-friendly rooms only had double beds! This issue could easily have been answered when I originally phoned in (or when I checked in) and mentioned both the size of bed and type of room I wanted.

Again, had to sign a pet waiver once I arrive at the hotel that contained the clause "won't leave pet alone in room." Okay, I get that places have had issues with animals destroying the room and this may be a stock form, but put a link to it on the hotel's web page under the "pet-friendly" icon. The room was specifically block booked for a conference. Big implication here that I won't be in my room!!! I could have made other arrangements for my pet if I had known the particulars of this policy in advance. And to top it off, the hotel charged an extra $20/night for having a pet. I don't know who they sent the bill to for all the pet mice that were running around during the night.

We moved our food to hangers in the closet so the mice wouldn't get at it. Rooms with fridges are an extra cost so we didn't have one.

No issues with housekeeping or cleanliness. The bed was comfortable. Wireless was free plus there were four hotel-provided computers for patron usage. Front desk staff was quick to bring a kettle for tea. Fruit, lemonade, and cookies were provided at the front desk. Alcohol was atrociously overpriced ($7/beer). Hotel staff didn't mention that the hot tub was closed for repairs, nor were we advised of any other hotel amenities. Perhaps these were all closed as well?
