Staff Travel and paying punters on CX

Am I correct that if listed for staff travel on J class- whether travelling yourself as staff OR your nominated family members- that the staff ID traveller (this case my parents) will be accepted AHEAD of a regular ecomomy class punter being upgraded due to overbooking in Y class and more people than seats available showing up?

Is this right- I can recall hearing something about it a while ago.
Anyone know the rule and polict reference?

Ta

I doubt that. My understanding is they find an Asia miles member and upgrade them first.
I do not think there is any airline that would bump a revenue pax for employee travel.

Sorry Monster, that's not the case... anyone who has paid for a seat, whether they are Y class or not, will get on the plane before staff on ID or ZED fare.

They will up-grade revenue pax ahead of staff. What they wont do now is up-grade people at the desk using Asia miles ahead of staff. (Assuming Y not full)
This came in because staff were being bumped to Y on flights that had J class seats available. Most staff would try another flight if able to, just to get a J seat. I guess the company sees potential revenue losses whne we get bumped to Y class!!!

Asia miles priority

Sorry Fenwick but in a letter written to me last month, clarifying who gets ahead of whom, Asia miles upgrades still take reference over any ID staff. As do any upgrades to clear oversales and the upgrading of commercially preferred pax.

The Company will always put revenue passengers before staff.....regardless of ticket class. Paying passengers are priority 4 for boarding, so will always trump a 26.....even if you have a J.

You may find your flight well overbooked in Y and wide open in J, only to find your name is not called out on standby as all the oversold Y tickets are upgraded ahead of staff/family listed in J.

My Travel Fund is sufficient, so we managers don't have that problem. We can buy full fare plus we have a bookable FOC once a year.

To My Bonus.
