Realistically what can they do. The commands have been awarded in order of seniority to those that have put in a bid. Of course the more senior F/Os aren't going to bid for a lower paid job with reduced housing and no education fund are they!
Only problem I see is that I really can't remember seeing the HKG Freighter Commands ever being advertised.

Its all part of the bigger problems we face at CX. This company imposes its wishes upon us and yet the AoA still has over 1000 (about 40%) non members.
Jack57, you can always write to the AoA to ask and they will send you a reply, i always do and i generally get quick answers, whether i agree with them or not.
If your question was a rhetorical one and you were really just questioning the AoAs tactics in this, again, ask the AoA, or are you not a member and part of the problem????

As a paying member, one would EXPECT a reply from the AOA regarding issues..
In fact, they have a STANDARD letter..which goes something like this: "...we take note of your concern and will look into the matter..." BLAH BLAH BLAH..
And that's where it stops..NOTHING gets followed up,NOTHING actually gets done...
100% non-AOA..

Nothing happens quickly round here but at least they're willing to have a go now. See PW's latest letter to the company re bypass pay for extendees on the freighter, which I see as a move in the right direction. If they're forced to pay bypass pay for extendees on the freighter then they'll be keen to negotiate an end to the nonsense.

Until freighter pay equals pax pay there will always be Commands out of seniority, whether it's DECs or S/Os, F/Os, it's a pay rise, a basing or not having to wait 10 years for a pax command.
Freighter pay will never equal pax pay as it will stall when it comes to bypass pay. The most junior pilot on the seniority list is often now a CAPTAIN!
The only way to fix it is a common jet pay, command will go back to strict seniority, however, as said bypass pay will be an issue, perhaps a forfeit of some bypass pay for short term pain vs long term gain?
I think you'd see guys who joined CX with the plan for a rapid command on the freighter rethinking their future in CX.

SMOC: I agree, as do most of us I think.
Sleeve: The same way they were forced to negotiate housing for bypassed LEPs. It's in the contract, they took the company to the labour department as a prelim to a court case and the company capitulated.
