New CX Basing Areas?

Under the Base Area pull down menu for searching the seniority list, there is now the option to select South Africa, Middle East Asia, and South East Asia....

A sign of things to come? Another new pay scale? Trying to generate more in-fighting?

Maybe bases in these places will do the trick

And just why shouldn't there be a base in South Africa?

AF - because you would have to fly two types at the same time perhaps? It would be fun though - hop in the 400 today and the old 340 tomorrow!
Mayben even the 777 every other week!

The JNB base story has been going on since bases first came about. I'm sure the company would love to open it. The latest story I hear is that the 400 is the only machine that can do it year round but JNB engineering believe the 777 is on it's way????!!!?

See CX.com. As of 24/03/09 Hkg summer schedule has 3 types doing JNB:

744 x4 p/w
343 x1 p/w (no long lay over due to becoming acclimatised - PX)
777 x2 p/w

So it would seem that its not just JNB engineering that would like it to go there, but planning dept too.

According to basings office "no more temp bases available in JNB" so much less the chance of a permanent base.

Okay - 3 types might be beyond my brain capacity. Actually come to think of it - remembering my one type is hard enough!!

Some nice layovers for some of the blokes next year then!

Cheers

AF. I'm not sure when you spoke to the basings office about this but they seem to have contradicted themselves with the NTC out today offering temp basings in JNB for Jan-Mar 09

Was in the basings office a month ago - it was once said "a day is a long time in aviation!" I stand corrected.
