AD POSSE AD ESSE;

You are fortunate to be able to afford imported foodstuffs ( as you call them ) but your reference concerning " poor mothers " rings hollow considering the rest of what you say is rubbish. By the way the word sovereign is not spelt with a " u ".

Teal, pollution again? give it a rest. If you people want China to stop emitting poisonous gas, then stop asking chinese factories to produce your goods. ah..... yes, it's cheaper in china......... labor, for example.
so you people paying peanuts then sell them at an obscene amount!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you call this taking advantage of the poor?
US and the rest invade Iraq(sorry, FREE Iraq), for what?

One bird, racism again? Emitting poisonous gases is one thing (most countries are guilty of that to varying degrees) but deliberately introducing poisonous contaminants to food products is something else.

Patently not true, And Then. The killing of babies, particularly those with mental or physical handicaps, was practised during 1939 to 1945. It is estimated that some 5,000 children became victims of this practice.

May I remind all to be tuned in to TV this evening ( Thursday 25th ) at 2110 HK time to watch China's latest Shenzhou 7 spacecraft lift off with three astronaughts aboard. History being made and the gap narrowing.

China's latest Shenzhou 7 spacecraft
...And even though it IS stolen technology from the WEST, it still costs an arm and a leg..

Now there was quite a lot of $$ made from all the tainted milk product etc, by companies like Sanlu with major stakeholders as none other than corrupt government officials..YES..the same mob funding the space project..

828a,

I have to pick up the point you make in #22. China has followed the agricultural model of the rest of the world, with industrial production techniques and central distribution - meaning the greens you bought today were picked 2,000km away 3 days before.

But, there is still a proportion using traditional methods, on a small scale, selling locally. And quite often these small scale producers are not using expensive/polluting pesticides and fertilizers.

If the government were to encourage local production and local distribution of small scale farmed goods, then you wouldn't have people in one province putting chemicals etc into food products for sale in another province. Because, if they did - the local poulus would be very soon onto them, rather than the milk investigation which took weeks/months.

The reason that mass produced goods are cheap is economies of scale AND large crops from pesticide/fertilisers.

The universe/space is a fascinating place - but spending billions and billions on developing a rocket to get there, while not supporting/regulating the nations agriculture - is myopic! (Note this not only applies to China)

Regards,

N1 Vibes

The word " stolen " is way off the mark. What you are referring to is modified reverse engineering and it is available to any country with the brains and resources to pick it up. It just so happens that China does have the brains and resources so let's wish them well because in the long run we will all benefit.
At this stage of proceedings with about six hours to go everything is looking good. Beijing television station CCTV 9 will screen the launch in English but all others will have it in Chinese.

Mad Cow Disease has now been discovered in the United States. Given the fact that the USDA only tests one cow out of every 2,000, no one really knows how many of these infected animals may have already entered the human food supply.

Hundreds of thousands of gallons of Austrian wine have apparently been doctored with poisonous diethylene-glycol, or automobile antifreeze, to make them taste sweeter, like more expensive Austrian wines.

After a hostile reception and being locked up in remote detention camps in the Australian desert, over 90 per cent were given refugee status. They are the visible asylum seekers. The overcrowded boats, with sad and desperate looking people, made for graphic media images.

could only happen in china couldnt it!

treboryelk: are you suggesting that Australians are taking boats to China to claim asylum there The "remote detention camps" in Oz are, in fact, for instance the former Woomera Air Force base, where Australian military personnel somehow managed to sleep without air conditioners, but the boat people (who claimed their previous lives had been so miserable) demanded they be given aircon units.

just think this holier than though approach is a bit much when our supposed developed nations are not that far removed from what goes on over the border!

Thanks TEAL..

I was looking for those articles about the chinese spies..still loyal to mother China after having been PARASITES in the US for decades...
Hope the ones who got caught are having a "HARD-TIME" in jail...

because in the long run we will all benefit
Benefit from what? The americans did this 60 years ago already and NASA is currently looking at MARS and beyond..while your commies haven't even done the moon yet for crying out loud!!

Oh..you must be referring to the SPY satellite that they are going to put in orbit, in order to monitor food and milk production and anybody else stepping out-of-line, so that they can get re-educated

Is there any truth to the rumour that when the Shenzhou 7 boys asked for ATC clearance the reply was " Cannot, delay undetermined !! "
When they finally got airborne some 3 hours late, they were held down to 7100m, then step climbed to 7700m, 8300m and then told that was their final level, at which point they ran out of fuel and fell to the ocean where their shenzhen " copy " capsule disintergrated........................any truth

After a hostile reception and being locked up in remote detention camps in the Australian desert, over 90 per cent were given refugee status. They are the visible asylum seekers. The overcrowded boats, with sad and desperate looking people, made for graphic media images.
I am sure if a boat load of any race of people turned up on a China shore, unannouced, they would be fed and housed and given legal council to sue the chinese government for unfair treatment, yes, I am sure that would happen
We've seen what you do to your own people, let alone anyone elses.

Lets not forget chaps/chapesses, under the " Congrats China " banner, their relentless contribution to reaching peak oil as soon as possible. Yes, flying jets around at 10,000 feet below optimum, sorry, 3000m, really is good for the endless oil supply and the atmosphere...............go you good things.
