CX is hiring. Is WN or CO still interviewing or just hiring from a pool? Any others?
1st yr pay is better
allowances (expenses for yanks) excellent over $110/ day at US cities
schedules can be good, but you have little input, flexibility required
New planes coming I do not see alot of new US aircraft acoss the ramp except for WN and CO 737's. Mostly foreign up at PAE
Good crews to fly with (generally there is always that 5% - 10% everywhere)
decent layovers over 24 hours rarely min rest (based crews)
Jet Airways is hiring Capts and fo's for LAX basing to operate to BRU. Don't know the pay or conditions but I hope it opens the opportunities for more based crews from other carriers.

Thanks for the positive comments about CX. Thats good to hear. Im currently waiting for a class date and was feeling a little nervous about leaving my current company because all of the negative comments about the company. I have friends there now and they, like you, have nothing but good things to say about the company. Are you on the 747?

I see you put your location as Cali. This brings to mind a situation that I have noticed recently with some Asian and European carriers desperate for crew. It started a few years ago when these carriers discovered that South American and Eastern European pilots are willing to work for lesser contracts than Aussies/ Brits etc.
I don't want to start a bitching session or insult anybody. It is pure economics. Guys from Brazil, Venezuela, Bulgaria etc etc can afford to work for lower salaries due to their lower living costs.
If this is the case it is dissappointing to see - it won't do the current efforts to increase wages at CX any good.
If you are actually joining from a US carrier then ignore this post - I am just trying to focus the attention on ongoing efforts by CX to find cheaper labour. Nothing personal.
