Cathay - Asia's Largest LCC

We truly are a Low Cost Carrier , stop believing that we are Premier Airline , Management and the Accountants have fixed that .

We cannot compare ourselves to BA , Air France or Qantas anymore , they are in a different league , we are in the 3rd Division ( they will be calling us Leeds United soon ) .

I was just looking at the new contract for JETSTAR and see that they have a lot of conditions that are better than our's .

Steve , you wonder why the guys are so bloody pisssed off at you , the union and especially the company , when you procrastinate over negotiations with the company over a pay increase and other benefits ,

Even a LCC like Jetstar , can negotiate a bloody Annual Pay Increases linked to the CPI with there penny pitching management .

We cannot !

They are getting 3 % Annually till 2012 . yes 2012

What do we get , 2 % over 7 years , that work's out 0.30 % Annually . With the CPI in Hong Kong running around 6% , its a f@cking joke

Our contract will be worth about the same as a pilot from Lion Air soon

read the following Jetstar contract , note the Annual Pay Increases , Overtime and working on days OFF

Retention Scheme

Pilots successfully checked to line and employed by Jetstar on anniversary dates (1st, 3rd and 5th year anniversary of EBA 2008) receive a 6% retention payment. Superannuation contributions will be paid on the Retention amount. For convenience, the retention bonus has been annualised and included in the figures given above, but it is only paid as a lump sum at the 1st, 3rd and 5th year anniversary dates.

Overtime

Paid for each credit hour in excess of 75 hours in a roster period (30 or 31 days depending upon the month) at the rate of annual salary divided by 787. Overtime is included when calculating payments under the Retention scheme and the Company Performance Bonus, and superannuation contributions are paid on overtime payments.

Credit hours are 1:1 with flight hours; 3.6 hours for each Mon-Fri leave day, 0 for Sat-Sun leave days; 5.5 hours for sim duties, recurrent emergency procedures and security training; 3.6 hours for other ground duties; 50% of positioning travel.

Narrow Body Overtime per Hour

Junior FO $66.42 ($70.40 with retention bonus included)
FO initial 12 months $101.47 ($107.56 with retention bonus included)
FO after 12 months up to 5th year $110.70 ($117.34 with retention bonus included)
FO after 5th year $119.92 ($127.12 with retention bonus included)
Captain $184.49 ($195.56 with retention bonus included)

Wide Body Overtime per Hour

Junior FO $75.72 ($80.26 with retention bonus included)
FO initial 12 months $115.68 ($122.62 with retention bonus included)
FO after 12 months up to 5th year $126.19 ($133.76 with retention bonus included)
FO after 5th year $136.71 ($144.91 with retention bonus included)
Captain $210.32 ($222.94 with retention bonus included)

Working on Day Off

Working on a day off is paid at a rate equal to the overtime rate, with a minimum payment equivalent to 3.4 hours at the overtime rate; plus a further payment equivalent to 3.4 hours at the overtime rate. Another day off is not given.

Example: Working 1 hour on a day off results in a payment of 6.8 hours at the overtime rate.

Example: Working 10 hours on a day off results in a payment of 13.4 hours at the overtime rate.

Annual Increment

Annual salary increases 3% each year on 1 Jan up to and including 1 Jan 2012. For the last two years, this increment may be increased depending upon inflation. Should the underlying annual CPI as at Dec 2010 exceed 3% then the increment on 1 Jan 2011 will be the same as the CPI figure up to a maximum of 4%. A similar arrangement occurs for the increase on 1 Jan 2012.

Well go then. Do us all a favour. Rest assured knowing your departure got your former cx buds one step closer to an improvement in pay and conditions.

So what, if you don’t like it move to Jetstar or anywhere else you think conditions are better. You will not get anything here and your contract is only going to get worse. If you don’t like it, move on.

We are looking at taking away bypass pay and extending on B Scale. That will save us lots of money and you are powerless to do anything about it. Your AOA is facilitating us in doing so.

What will the pilot body do, take major industrial action? Most will still work on a G day for the meager pay and will continue to do so out of fear of upgrading or some will do it for EFP.

Your contract is just a piece of paper and the pilots will nothing about it. You can’t even do Contract Compliance. Live with it or move on.

Most will not move on as they are too old and trapped into the seniority system. You are powerless.

I love seeing posts like this with people jumping up and down but will do nothing about it.

To My Bonus

The Management.

A-scale now !

So true Green Can..

The Pill will wake up one day and smell the coffee after helping the company on his g and o days and getting payed soon with a new reduced COS.

Is it time for the B-scale captains to shut the airline down and get all on the same fair A-Scale and P fund before July 1st. 2008.

After all, I got not much to loose anymore.

To The Management

This is a message to The Management.

Firstly I do not work for CX and have no intention of doing so. I just wanted to say that I am appaulled at your words and I think you must be either bloody stupid or had a few to many beers before coming on this forum to say things like that.

You do not realise what you are doing and the effect that pissing the pilots off will have. You will find that pilots won't leave in dribs and drabs usually another operator will come along and start hiring and everyone will go.

Pilots are no different from any other profession you get out of them what you put in. Treating pilots badly will only affect the end product you provide. That will then hurt you and ur bonus.

The Management is probably the most effective poster on this thing, but these daft commuter pilots cant even see that. Im calling crew control to request work on my G days so I wont have to read about these fools directing their anger at the Management vice where it should be aimed...
