The 2 groups of terminated pilots.....?

Daily,

Could you please clarify what constitutes "not being paid a cent"? Do you mean receipt of a lump sum cheque for: 3 months salary in lieu of notice, plus severance payment, plus annual leave owing....? Because that's exactly what the guys got paid when they got their last day notice, in the 'group' you implied got nothing!

For your info, I consider every single one of those guys and gals in that group a mate and great people, and won't stand by listening to your unfounded accusation to break up that group.

In fact, the other group (Group 1 as you put it) got screwed you bright spark! They're being made to serve out their notice, and so naturally, are on the payroll and getting paid monthly instead of one lump sum cheque. They haven't received one cent of severance, AL etc.

Get your facts straight before you make unfounded racist insinuations..... or are you just a neo-Nazi, anti-semitic, KKK skinhead, bursting at the seams to defame anything/anyone remotely close to the South East Asian Race???? I'm no fan of the Singa Snakes after being screwed one too many times for saying "G'day", but leave the others out of it.

1980 is doing a recall for all white trailor trash.... don't worry, it's a 1800 toll-free number, so it won't cost you a cent.

Termination

In fact in HKA pilots weren't required (after some dispute) to comply with their notice flying. In this respect they received a termination payment according to their contracts (1 month or 3 months, different contracts).

At HKE the situation is different. As they are so short on pilots they are making all pilots comply with their notice flying until the last day. With that everyone who is being terminated just receive the month salary, plus the annual leave not taken and severance.

However for none of them (HKA and HKE) the gratuity was paid. It is still pending court decision, which should be issue next month. But at HKE there are some differences on the contract: all expats are entitled (and these are the only differences between locals and expats) to tickets to go home (self and family up to 4) and a relocation allowance. These 2 items are not going to be paid because Madam Wu said so!

The airlines are supposed to be separated, but MW is still giving the cards.

Till the end July 9 experinced Captains and 3 FOs will be gone (locals and expats). They are trying to rush up the upgrade programs (good for FOs who stay, 500 hours and go!), since this will be the only source of Captains for them. Very soon there will be nobody left to fly their acft.

Interesting times ahead...........

PS: HKA Daily, sorry about the copy of the name, but I really liked your choice, and since the company is the other........

25 Jan 08 HKA listed 7 x 737-800s with 4 more for delivery by Jan 09.

06 Jun 09 HKA has 5 x 737-800s and no more for delivery.

Look at why the fleet is shrinking and about to shrink further

Most fleets are shrinking, aircrafts are mothballed and orders pushed out. Buckle up everyone, we (the industry, heck the entire economy) are in for a tough ride.

Financial Armageddon

It is fact. I have the facts and while I am not in position to post them here, trust me in that HKE and HKA owe a lot of money. My point here however is that all the media releases about new aircraft and new routes simply cannot come to fruition until they sort out these debts.

No demise.......??????

Hong Kong Airlines on Wikipedia: Hong Kong Airlines - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under the heading AIRCRAFT ORDERS:

"As of Jan 09' the experiment seems to have failed with HKA downsizing to 2 B737-800, giving the rest to Hong Kong Express ( sister company) and Hainan (parent company ). It is expected that the end of HKA is near, and the company will be folded."

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh, there may be peace at last.

I have been following this thread for a while and it was difficult to sort out sour grapes from the truth and it seems to be a childish discussion at times. However, when I read the memo given to HKA/E pilots I had a hard time controlling my laughter when in fact it is quite sad...

HKE DFO Resignation

Heard through the rumor mill that the newly appointed HKE DFO has resigned for greener pastures.
I wonder who will take his place??
Are the snakes on their way back? or will they find someone from outside the company?
I don't think it will be an easy job to fill, after all they will be responsible for an ever decreasing pilot group as jobs become available and the wages offered and the experience levels reduce and training costs increase.
The beginning of the end I think.
