Safety hazard

Its becoming dangerous now. People turn up expecting to PX and end up operating 2 or 3 man flights. It puts you in a very difficult situation, legally speaking, as you were physiologically prepared to sleep for the flight then find yourself trying to stay awake through your WOCL.

This sort of thing happened a lot in 2000/2001 when we had contract compliance. People turned up for TPE overnights, sims etc suddenly found themselves doing an all night flight. The KA saviour said we are supposed to be rested and ready for any flight - BOLLOX. If you are relief and expect to rest first then obviously you turn up tired and ready to sleep. So from a legal standpoint you have no protection.

So have a think about what you will say and how you can deal with this situation should it happen to you. At the end of the day we have to look out for each other and keep flying safe. Sorry for being touchy feely, before I was an AOA activist I was a CRM facilitator - they kicked me out due poor CRM.
