Advice on Living Arrangement

I've just had a great idea that I want to validate. A cousin of mine has moved to HK last year to work. He has a crash pad and is looking for a roommate. Great I thought. How about my wife? That's where I have came up with this arrangement:

During my SO time (3-4 years), my wife will have to stay in our home town in US 1/2 the year. She will be living with me in HK the other half. I plan to get basing as soon as it is possible so I don't plan to buy (hopefully soon after upgrading to FO)

I am planning to stay with my cousin when my wife's not in town and split the cheap rent ($5000 for my portion). When my wife's in town, I am hoping to find a serviced apartment for us to stay in. She would be travelling with me when I am working as much as she can during the time here, but I also want it to be extremely safe for her when she has to be in HK while i'm in LHR for a few days (for example). The place across from timesquare (Shamu??) looks great, but i think it's quite expensive...

Here are my questions:
- from your experience, is this arrangement feasible?
- does anyone have any good serviced aparmtent to recommend? I am on a lowly SO's pay, so please keep that in mind. Key criteria is safe, and easy access to MTR. I know it's safer to live up the mountains, but I dont want to have to switch to minivans + busses. In HK island side.
- I am not expecting to save much money unfortunately during the first few years. Standard of living is the key. Is it possible for her to fly with me when i am working?

cheers
NSO

The short answer is.... you plan can and would work. Don't worry to much about getting a place all organised before you get here, there will be plenty of time for that.

I really not sure why you are so concerned about safety???? I have lived in Europe, Africa, Australia, PNG and the U.S and I would have to say this is one of the most safe towns on the planet. No problem with my missus out in Wan Chai with her Girls at 4am!

She is the girl ?

If you love your wife and plan to spend a happy life with her, don't do it..

You will be divorsed within a year or two, if you live separate lives 6 months at the time..

We all need our emotional needs covered..
