I am glad to see that some of our colleagues ( one in particular ) that are on extensions are re-joining the union ,
What kind of people are they , they quit the union when the going gets hard , they didn't want to contribute to the 49er's fighting fund .
Now there is a vote in the coming future to extend to 65 , they are now mysteriously re-joining the union ,
Just because these guys have no life , no friends and more importantly no morals , they think they can
over the careers of there subordinates
The union should block these people from having a vote for a period of time , or is it in GC interest to let these guys vote .

they should all have voting rights suspended for the length of time they were non members, then we'll see if they are true or just joining for one particular vote.......
I have already wrtitten my protest letter to the AOA.....havent got the rules with me...what do they say? surely we can block these self serving, useless individuals........

The junior pilot does not have a history of jumping ship (not judging whether it was valid or not). Mr X will most likely jump ship again once he has had his say. If he is genuine then he won't mind a probationary "no vote period."

GCD, they quit the union because of people like you! Negative, retributive and a pain in the a_se socialist. GO free market. If the AOA do not "represent", people will leave. Bring common sense mixed with fair democracy and people will join. If you are looking for wars you must pay a toll that may not suit your desired end. Often taking it up the b_tt is the less painful option. You just need to plan your future choices having considered this.

Think that’s the problem here most times, people bend over too easy. Sometimes me thinks the pilots walk backward bent over. I guess I will have to buy my own KY.

I Captain was EXPELLED from the AOA for not paying his dues, it eventually went to court although I'm not sure what the outcome was.
WE MUST ALL WRITE TO THE GEN COMMITTEE AND OBJECT TO THESE VERMIN REJOINING, WE ALL KNOW WHY THE A-SCALERS WANT TO REJOIN, TO VOTE YES TO EXTENSION ON A-SCALES WHILE WE B-SCALERS GET SCREWED AGAIN.
If what I hear about the package is true ( 6 % or 8 %, age 65, Direct entry F/O's, A-scalers keep A-scale etc ) ) then the Company can get stuffed.
What an insult.

I don't think I can post his details on this site? I would get sued.
However he is a rejoining A scaler Captain, so you do the math.
They will re-join to vote yes then they will quit again. We don't need these people.
The AOA used to attach info about the applicant on the email list. ie - rejoiner.
Funny they don't bother now?

wow, what a great Union............you can only join if you think, act and vote the same way as those who are already members....................
sorry chaps but what is it about DEMOCRACY you DON'T understand??
the deal is 1 person 1 vote.............................end of debate, wether they have differing opinions or not...................
It is bad enough that the so Called "Union" has banned certain groups from joining (ASL)................I always thought the idea of a Union was to all stand together and fight for better terms and conditions for all
Obviously I am sadly misinformed !!!!!

What part about selfish self interest don't you understand.
These people ( almost all of them ) deserted the AOA rather than pay any money for democratically voted on matters. They didn't stick together at all, as people in a Union should do.
They are only rejoining now to vote yes to the pay package, again out of selfish self serving interests.
Don't be so naive as to think otherwise.
Why do you think they chose now to re-join?
A LEOPARD DOESN'T CHANGE IT'S SPOTS

Where do you draw the line?
What makes someone unsuitable to vote?
I have no answers - just questions. Personally, I would like to see as many people as possible in the AOA so that we can have a true democratic vote on issues - as many repeat votes as is required;-)
If it is any consolation to B scalers, the vast majority of those applying to join are SOs and FOs. You are not allowed to rejoin the AOA unless all past money owing is repaid. If someone quit, AOA-debt free, he is free to reapply. If someone went through the SCT and paid an amount less than what he owed, he is NOT allowed to rejoin until the outstanding monies are repaid.
Those that are allowed to rejoin have followed AOA rules - you are allowed to leave the AOA and then you are allowed to apply to rejoin. Whether that is on the moral high ground or financially parsimonius, I will leave others to decide.
If you feel strongly about quitters rejoining then I suggest you remove my name from the AOA ballot. We can have a 'pure' (read aryan) AOA that only has those that stayed the course....that union will become a smaller and smaller percentage of the total. Or we can have an inclusive union that forgives and forgets as any future progress must come from maxmum representation.
When you see the pay deal remember two things: the AOA is only as strong as its 55% membership; and not many have left yet in spite of all the bleating.
PS All the rejoiner names are available - should have been emailed to you in fact. And yes it is 4 bars...

Yeah I got the email, but it doesn't provide further information beside the persons name. It used to say Capt XYZ- rejoiner.
I too would like to have as many guys and girls in the AOA too, it's just that there are some out there that quit when the going got tough and now want to re-join just to have a vote. One guy was EXPELLED for christ sake.
And don't tell me they have suddenly decided to join out of the goodness of their hearts to help all of us,,,,,,,,,RUBBISH.
The A scale Captain re-joiners are only doing it for 1 reason, you don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure that one out.
It's a HUGE amount of cash to them, why wouldn't they try to get back in just to vote YES.

ACMS,
I don't think a few A-scaler rejoiners will make any difference to the vote. In addition there are a number of A-scalers who will undoubtedly oppose this deal. Then to make it pointless I suspect RA will change for based crew regardless of the vote when CX goes onshore.

Some are rejoining as they are now commuters and no longer with their travel package. Hence they'll need jumpseats more often, and I know several skippers who will not release a J/S to non union and union quitters
