Delighted to see 23 new members to the AOA in the latest news letter. The more that join, the stronger the position of the negotiating committee in these perilous times.

I can understand, but do not share, the frustrations of pilots who resigned in the months and couple of years after the 49'rs. For me, I forget but do not forgive the management actions, which allows me to support the present committee, and the whole concept of having an association or union to support the pilots.

In an ideal world, pilot's unions would not be required, but we live in a world where the shiny gloss of aluminium and the glamour of owning an airline attracts management practices that would be laughed off or sued off in many other industries.

So if you see a guy with ability and potential in CX, suggest he joins the AOA. Closed shop is total anathema, and should never be tolerated, but voluntary membership is in the long run, a GOOD thing.

FWIW, already below ground for the in-c-m-n-g...
