Bollocks!
Lets makes something perfectly clear here! The AOA is the representative body of just over half the pilots in CX. Having spent many years inside and outside the general committee I can assure you that there is NO decision that will be reached without membership approval!
I don't know if you have mis interpreted said 'big wig' or if he has misrepresented himself. Lets make a clear distinction between Steve Turner and Nick Rhodes. Nick has the power to screw you...Steve does not. Steve has one vote in a commitee of 16. The committee of 16 then has to take a decision to its 'employers' of 1000+. Slight difference! The AOA will negotiate the best deal available...it will present the best deal available to the membership...it is then up to each and every 1000 of us to accept/reject the deal.
So if you think you deserve a 30% payrise and the AOA come back with an offer for 5%, dont blame the AOA. Just remember who pays us and who controls the purse strings. It is their(AOA) job to bring the best deal "AVAILABLE". It is up to you to decide whether an increase in your pet food budget is enough!

Increased Hours
Interesting snippet about an increase in hours. I worked for an airline that did get a negotiated increase in hours (before overtime). This was in return for a modest payrise. I can assure you that it is amazing what the roster folk are able to accomplish with just a 4 hour increase in hours per month.
Suffice to say, that once you give something away, you will NEVER get it back. Once they have that increased productivity, there is NO incentive for a company to negotiate further. We all regretted it afterwards, and funny old thing, never received anything from the company in any subsequent award talks. Increased productivity is like gold to any business - airlines especially.
Food for thought.

NC agreed, the members have the power but none have the backbone hence the committee has to work with a toothless tiger.
Av guy, don’t think the majority of pilots are that smart. It worries me it will get voted in. Don’t have much confidence in the CX Pilot body with their agreements they passed in the past. IMHO of course.

No Kitsune,
I just get sick and tired of all the problems of the pilots being the union's faults. If it wasn't for the AOA I am sure we would all have had 50% payrises by now, and probably working 50hr months! Doth I protest too much now!
