Upgrade to captain..back to HK?

Hi i have a question for all of you current CX flight crew. I was considering going for the CX SO program and starting out in HK and then i guess after several yeras you make your way into bidding for a base as an FO from what i have heard. Once you are FO at this base and several more years down ther road you are about to take the upgrade to Captain is it true that you have to move back to HK to become captain? or can you upgrade as a captain in the current base you are opperating as an FO?

You can stay in base your as long there is a vacancy, although the training is done in Hong Kong
