Cathay Profitability ???

Hi there, just wondering if there are any CX pilots who might be able to give me some insight;
In my first interview last month I was asked why I thought Cathay was able to turn such a significant profit while most North American-based airlines are suffering from financial difficulties.
I answered something along the lines that on top of being a very well-managed company, the fact that Asia is a gateway to many parts of the world and having Hong Kong as its hub of operations Cathay is better poised to be a major international carrier. They seemed to be satisfied with my answer but does anyone have anything to add that I may have overlooked?
