2 questions for wannabees

1. Why do guys keep bombarding the Fragrant Harbour forum for interview gouge for HK carriers such as KA and CX when these questions clearly belong on the Fragrant Harbour Wannabees forum.

2. Why do guys keep bombarding the Fragrant Harbour forum looking for interview gouge when there are already about 6 million previous posts with the same question. It seems guys get offered an interview and rather than use some researching initiative, their first action is to go to the Fragrant Harbour and ask the same bloody interview gouge question. I am so tired of logging on and seeing exactly the same query from someone new.

Look on the CORRECT forum and you will find all the answers there. Give us a break please.

It's known as poor Internet etiquette. May be the admin and sticky the rules on the forums. However, it would be nice to have key information updated once in awhile.

Because sometimes we just want answers to specific questions from experienced guys, and not from fellow wannabees who have a tendency to speculate.
A lot of people post replies that are wrong in some cases. They are just reading unverified notes that somebody else wrote years back.....

If experienced guys took the time to go in the wannabees forum more often to enlighten us, we would not have to post on this forum!

Get off your high horse mate, it's not like there are a tremendous number of daily posts on the harbour forum anyway. If it takes you so long to "trudge" through all 7 daily posts, then perhaps flying is a bit too challenging?

Silberfuchs,

You're input is appreciated, and well respected, as you usually keep the mudslinging to a minimum. However, Trevor came on this board attacking hopefuls because they didn't use the search function. Rather than rattling their cages, perhaps he could have simply turned the other cheek? I have helped countless people with obtaining employment with my current company. No need to counsel me on the "pay it forward" idea. I agree, that perhaps there should be some forethought before asking such a broad question as some have done recently. But all these people are trying to do is get a leg up on joining CX. Like I said before, if the 7 daily posts on these forums are enough to give someone an anurism, then perhaps they should get out a bit more. Do you disagree? All I was doing was jabbing some ribs. You guys are really too sensitive. And yes, I was offered the job about a month ago, but you know nothing about my background, and my response was warranted whether I will be employed by CX or not. Good day to you sir, and I look forward to future conversations.

And that sir is the reason I very rarely help wannabes anymore. Some of us like myself and Silberfuchs have put in countless hours helping the many hopefuls who use this forum to prepare for their interviews. You would also be surprised the number of CX and KA pilots that do patrol the wannabes forums on a very regular basis. We will help where the help is warranted but most of us are drawing the line at answering the same old questions by people showing extremely poor internet etiquette and refusing to use the “Search” function. The problem has got so bad now that some just can’t be bothered helping anymore even when it is a legitimate question. You can blame the lazy posters that get on here in droves for the current state of lack of interest from us.

Lastly your sly remark that we should get a life is further insult to the many CX and KA pilots that help out here. For the record most of us do have lives outside work but graciously put aside a little time to help others. We don’t have to do this but we choose to. In return all we expect is a little thanks not some verbal diarrhea from someone without any manners. Good day to you too sir and I hope your new career here at CX is an enjoyable one.

Dear Mr Jockey,

If I can quote a small part of your last post; "......you know nothing of my background......."

Like wise you know nothing about me, The Lover. I disagree that I "attacked." That is how you see it. As for me and my attitude to Wannabees - as Titan said, many of us do cruise the Wannabees forum, and like Titan and Silberfuchs, I have gone out of my way to help wannabees in their endeavours. Can I tell you of my latest effort.

A young man flying in Austria asked on the Wannabees forum (the correct forum) for some info about KA as he has an interview coming up. What ensued was a two week back and forth of PMs of information and questions, many of my answers very long and extremely detailed (could also be called very time consuming).

I also advised him that pre interview visit to Hong Kong was a tremendous boost to an applicants chances. KA love the fact tht you have made the effort to have a good look before the process. I offered this young man accommodation at my house.

He accepted my offer and I am very glad he did. On Saturday morning the 1st of July a terrific young man arrived at HK airport where I met him. He spent a very very pleasant three days at my house with my family and I, he socialised with my friends, I drove him all over HK to show him all the areas where expats tend to inhabit, I showed him around KA house, we talked of the interview process, we talked of life in HK, my wife gave him a spouse's perspective, we talked Airbus, we drank beer.

In other words I went out of my way to help a Wannabee, such is the bond of the aviation brotherhood. And in the process I have made a great new friend from Holland.

Would I have done the same for you Mr Jockey. Bet your bum I would have. Congratulations on your Cathay job, I am sure you will have a gratifying career. Well done.

Sir I seek to attack no-one, and I seek to help as many people as I can. But I also would like to feel free enough to state that I am a tad sick of the same question over and over and over again on the Fragrant Harbour forum - "has anyone got the gouge on the first interview?" The information is all there, and has been for a long time. Take the effort, research a bit, read all the information already supplied, and then if there are still questions to be asked, go onto the Wannabees site and ask. Myself, Silberfuchs and Titan will be on patrol.
