Taipan Row - The tailor

Has anyone used these guys and if so are they any good ?
Looking to get a couple of suits and it seems like they may be the place to go.

Any other recommendations appreciated too

All right then

I bought an excellent DJ from Bobby's Fashions inTST. I was a bit nervous about the somewhat off hand staff attitude, but I am very pleased with the result, especially as I am not a standard size!!

Don't get taken in by the two suits, three shirts for ten dollars kind of offer though, you need to splash out a bit on the material

I think I paid about $4000 for the DJ, an ordinary suit should be less

I can highly recommend Tony Tam New World Tailor
311 Hennessy Road Shop A1 G/F
Chi Po Bld

Small shop next to a tool shop off Hennessey. I have had suits made from him for 10 yrs. Finest UK/Italian sourced light wool weave perfect for this climate. Mrs has also had clothes/outfits copied to her satisfacton.
A nice toucj is an embroided label thta he puts inside saying "Specially made for ..........". Cost around HK$4K two piece suit. Excellent quality.

I've been very happy with the suits, DJ, and shirts I have had from Taipan Row. As with all tailors, taking the time and the multiple fittings until they get it just right is worth doing.

Note that on most items the prices are slightly higher if bought from the IFC branch, presumably to cover the higher rent there.

Manfred,
I think, in '97 it was about:
Blazer: HKD3000
3 pce suit: HKD3500
either the blazer was expensive or the suit was cheap - done lots of weddings, christenings and the odd funeral since.

Have used them about 6 different times for shirts and suits - all excellent and have lasted a long time and they stay looking sharp unlike other tailors I've used

As said above, costs a bit more but is well worth it. Have had a few dodgy experiences eg jantzen, and given up trying elsewhere - you get what you pay for at the end of the day

I use the one at IFC. Top guys

I use Sam the Tailor
http://www.samstailor.com/

He is known worldwide, and prices are competitive.
He's dressed both Bond (Brosnan) and Clinton

94 Nathan, main floor of the Burlington Arcade
Can't remember the TST subway exit letter that's located right beside his shop.
My last suit was italian cashmere/wool and it ran me $4500hkd.
I plan to be buried in it.
