Question HAECO Drops A/C ?

Is it true, I hear it was a A340 and may be a write off as the jack damaged the front spar of the wing.

Aircraft concerned was HXD.. I didn't think it could be a write-off.

Latest I hear is they didn't use a jacking adaptor, so it slipped or punched the hole as the load wasn't spread evenly.

Red face

As usual. Heres the real story.

A/c was being jacked to investigate ongoing defect for airframe vibes.

Jack was placed under wing, at this point it was then determined jack was un servicable.

Unfortunatly air was applied to the jack, and the regulator failed. In turn the jack started to raise.

The ball of the jack had not been located in the jacking pad, and missed the pad by a few inches and punched up through the wing. The wing spar is ok. Just wing panels, hydraulic lines and drive units took all the pain.

The delay in the repair was waiting for Airbus to come up with a repair scheme, plus CNY.

At no time was a w/o ever considered.
