Hong Kong Aviation Club
You may have heard that the HKAC was closing down - well it isn't. The members have joined together and stopped the closure.. .We are trying to re-kindle the "good old days" - anybody interseted in coming to the bar for a beer ($10 in Happy Hour!) then see you there.

The Club is still in it's original location at the NW corner of Kai Tak. Non members are welcome, you can purchase cash coupons. Michael, Vincent and Mr. Chan are still there. The food is good and cheap. The propeller still adorns the wall. The only thing missing is the aircraft coming over the fence for a landing on 13.

Hi guys,
What's the deal with non-members/visitors? can we just bowl on in for a coldie? I checked the club out a while ago and needed a start cart after they told me the joining fee (not to mention the AC rates....) Why so expensive lah?. .I'd love to support the club but in the meantime I am stuck with flying in the PI's, which isn't too bad but.

I hear the club is using its funds to write down the purchase of a new aircraft as quickly as possible.. .Is someboby hoping to purchase a cheap new aircraft when the club closes down in the near future?

There is a rumour that there will be an offer for 'old' members to reactivate their old accounts at no cost. Failing that associate membership is currently HK$6,000, which for a club membership in HKG, is really reasonable. Check out some of the alternatives - 3 years waiting list and $80k for example.
There you go - why not come down.

One more thing - several club members have helicopters which still fly from the Kai Tak club base - and quite often have an empty seat if you're in the bar with half an hour or so to spare. Otherwise the club aircraft still fly from Sek Kong.
There is also an excellent exhibition on at the moment of photos from old Kai Tak - before the closure. Well worth a visit. In fact you'd be surprised have many 'old hands' still call into the club.
