Had_enough
I would have thought that so many years in the industry would have evened up the chips on your shoulders there. Obviously you've still a few years of learning ahead.
Drop the attitude. I said I was one of the pilots. I do what you do and I earn what you earn.
Learn to read.
My original argument still stands.
Ciao.
Good day to everyone else!

dear hadenough

So sorry, sort of lost the track of what you were saying after a while and fell asleep a bit.

I am sure that the parts that I missed were very interesting.

To produce such a lengthy contribution, you obviously have so much time on your hands that you are either

a. a union official

b. an ultra long haul pilot, (you know one of the guys that has to work six days a month before he runs out of hours and has to stay home).

c unemployed

Good luck anyway

Blunderbus and others must think Prune readers are wet behind the ears if he expects them to believe that this dispute is only about rostering. You will have read the SCMP, but Pruners may not have done. For their edification I copy the following:-

Cathay accuses pilots' union of playing word games

VICTORIA BUTTON

Cathay Pacific has claimed its pilots' union refused the option of a deal on rostering, while publicly saying the issue was of top importance.
Director of flight operations Ken Barley cited the incident in a letter sent on October 12, formally refusing a union offer of a return to negotiations.

He wrote that in June at the Labour Department, the union had indicated it could accept a package that resolved pay and benefits, but did not deal with rostering.

But Mr Barley said in the letter the union would not accept the reverse - a package which resolved rostering issues but did not cover pay and benefits.

"In public, the HKAOA [Aircrew Officers' Association] claim that the most important issue to resolve is roster practices," he said. Mr Barley accused the union of word games and public relations gamesmanship as it gave contradictory messages to the company and the public - similar to accusations made by the union against the company.

Pilots would have to convince the company of their sincerity if they wanted another agreement through formal talks, Mr Barley said.

"Dropping your industrial action and stating unambiguously that you have no pre-conditions either to talks or the outcome of any talks would be steps in the right direction," he continued.

"Instead, the HKAOA is telling its members to step up the action. In these circumstances, no purpose would be served by any further meetings."

The general secretary of the Aircrew Officers' Association, John Findlay, said the union would give the letter serious consideration and reply to Mr Barley.

Mr Barley said the union's unconditional offer to return to negotiations was disingenuous when, in other forums, the group had insisted on an outcome from any talks - the reinstatement of more than 50 pilots sacked en masse during an ongoing industrial dispute.

The sacked pilots were told by the company that their terminations were not as a result of any particular offence, but publicly, Cathay has said it had lost confidence in the pilots after a careful review.

Pilots have taken legal action over the sackings in Hong Kong and overseas, including a United States suit for more than $780 million.

Cathay's director of corporate development, Tony Tyler, said the company could not afford to pay pilots more. He claimed a "large" number of pilots were coming to realise the situation and "think for themselves".

You had better tell Nigel what it is you want.

I think they just did...

From this morning's SCMP

"Cathay pilots suspend industrial action

VICTORIA BUTTON

Cathay Pacific pilots will suspend their industrial action campaign from noon tomorrow and have formally dropped a demand that sacked pilots be reinstated as part of any deal.
The measures fulfil every requirement Cathay listed in an October 12 letter as "steps in the right direction" that would show the sincerity needed for negotiations.

The ceasefire was set out in a letter hand-delivered by Aircrew Officers' Association president Nigel Demery to Cathay director of flight operations Ken Barley on Thursday.

Cathay welcomed the union announcement and has proposed a meeting with it early next week.

The pilots' union has warned it will review the decision to suspend industrial action - which started in July - if Cathay did not respond clearly and positively to its decision.

Union members were informed yesterday in a newsletter obtained by the Post. In it, Mr Demery said the union had "updated" its view on the best course of action after the September 11 terror attacks.

"After two days' extensive discussion in your General Committee, we have decided that we will, as a membership, demonstrate the sincerity and good faith management is seeking. Someone has to be prepared to take the first step towards reconciliation," he said.

The move came after Cathay dismissed the union's previous offer of an unconditional return to negotiations as insincere, given the insistence on the reinstatement of the sacked pilots.

In the letter to Mr Barley, Mr Demery said there were no pre-conditions for negotiations.

Union general secretary John Findlay said the initiative showed great strength of character: "I don't think there's any sign of admitting defeat here."

Cathay's director of corporate development, Tony Tyler, warned the union would need to have realistic expectations in the current environment."

...and one can only hope that this is the last article to appear in the press for the next 12 months.

I sincerely hope the paint is now dry enough for everyone to come out of their corners.

Someone recently sent me a note saying that due to the current economic climate, the light at the end of the tunnel had been turned off. Well it is now on again.

Blinked.... big time but they have only just woken up and smelt the (Starbucks) coffee like everyone else in the world.

See Demery and Findlay still cannot smile as it must hurt.... look like your on the way to the gas chamber Guys. Yellow is still the colour of cowards - fielding the Wives to walk the 'corridors of power' shows the true colour. Are they wearing black now?

Boeing Boeing.....
