Post SALARY AT CATHAY

Cathay have an ad out for first officers
on their freighter fleet to be based in
North America.
Does anyone know what they mean by
"competitive freighter fleet salary"?
Thanks

For the guys in KUL,the salary offered by CX for the freighter is about 50% above those paid by the major airline here.(This comparison is with the pay of the most senior 747 FO).It's also much higher than the pay of a 737 captain. The thing that is of great attraction is the possibility of getting on the pax fleet based in HKG,raising the salary close to RM40000 per month. Some that i have spoke to don't even mind if not posted to HKG after 3 years on the freighter.
With such a vast difference in salary now you know why a lot of the guys are interested.

Guys, leave this alone. Mr. 839 posts has nothing better to do with his time. KEEP QUIET, roll on the 20th.

The whole reason why CX decided to get Malaysian based freighter pilots is cause it couldn't get enough US based guys AT THE PRICE it was offering.

Having said that, if you are interested...
FO1 59232(2000 figures...I believe they got 2 or 3% rise in January this year?)
It would take a VERY long time to get command as you are on the mainline seniority list at the bottom of all SOs etc. But, FYI, CN1 gets $109,632(2000 figure again!)
My guess is that it would take a minimum of 7 - 10 years to get a command off US basing.
Good Luck

cpdude: If you don't like CX, please go back to the bush in Canada.
