FAA to CDN CPL
"Discount Airlines For Dummies" is a really good read and also good for wrapping fish. How about "Passing the Emirates Interview" because that's about all that's out there unless you're 20-something and prepared to sit right seat in a bug-smasher for the next few years down south or willing to freeze your ass off in the black hole of the Arctic. What happened? Did you marry a Canadian (Canadien)? Remember: There's only enough blood...

The conversion process was made easier in December 2006 through licence agreement btween the FAA and Transport Canada. 20 or 40 question exam. Read about it here

Hi Discus2,
Could you please sent me the questions for FAA to Canadian ATP conversion? My Email is [email protected].
Please also let me know how did you renew your FAA ATP. I need to renew my FAA ATP before applying for conversion.
Thanks

Discus2, I'd appreciate those questions as well for the conversion...
Reaz, to my knowledge all you need is a Flight Review & Instrument Proficiency check from a CFI and current 1st class medical to have to have your ATP current...

Hi CMD A,
Thanks for response.
I would like to do the Flight Review & Instrument Proficiency check from a CFI here in Canada.
I read from Pilot Career Center:
With many airports in close proximity to the United States, some Canadian Pilot Training Organizations have been accepted by the FAA to provide Training and Flight Exams on behalf of the FAA. Please note though - that although you will take off from a Canadian aerodrome, your Flight Test will be completed in US Airspace, and your FAA Flight Test Examiner will be FAA Certified and from the US.
I am trying to figure out which are the Canadian Flight schools authorized by FAA to conduct training and Flight Exams or if there is any CFI in Canada.
I have done FAA 1st class medical from Toronto.
If you have any clue, please let me know.
Thanks

For those who have understood that I would give the questions asked during my exams, please let me clarify that I wouldn t share them.
My intention is more to advise on study material and nothing more.

Questions
I am sorry not to be able to go into specifics about the questions as I honestly do not remember them. It took me about 30 minutes to answer these and I passed on the first attempt with mid 80's on the points.
These where by no means easy nor was it a walk in the park. You are actually required to have a fairly good knowledge on the CAR's.
As for the Material. I recommend going through Culhanes online ATPL groundschool questions. This gave me an idea what to expect for the test itself and what type of questions are asked and how they are worded. Being totally unfamiliar with the Canadian testing system this proved very useful to me. Out of the Accelerated Aviation ATPL material I put a special emphasis on air law and procedures, learning most of the stuff and then when something needed clarification I would go through the Transport Canada website or the AIM and Jeppesen products.
Get yourself a copy of the Canadian AIM (Aeronautical Information Manual). Concentrate on the differences between FAR's and CAR's. I went through the manual with a toothpick. Before I started with the AIM, I went through the Jeppesen North America Flight Supplement Book. And pretty much learned all the regs and rules for Canada that this publication contains.
All in all it is not easy but not very hard either. If you have a good general knowledge on aviation law and ICAO rules etc and have a good study routine a weeks worth of study should do the trick. But like for me, having been out of the classroom for 10 years, it required some book digging.
Had I known about the Aerocourse option, I would have done what I did and then taken the course. I am pretty sure that this could have prepared me better and I would have had it easier on the test.

FAA ATP to Canadian ATPL Conversion Exam
Are any sample questions or tests available for the Conversion Exam? I checked with Accelerated Aviation and Aerocourse as mentioned earlier in this thread. They don't have any one book that covers what needed to know for the Conversion exam (FAAAA)
Any help would be appreciated.....

Aerocourse is the way to go - I hear that from a couple of acquaintances out there.
Also, there is a good text - Canadian ATPL Workbook, which you'll find in places like Aviation World I guess. And as someone else said, know the CARs inside out...
