Downloading/saving a sound file?
I'd like to save this file to my hard disk: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/news/lastword.shtml
Last Word (30 min) Broadcast on Radio 4 - Fri 03 Mar - 16:00
How do I do it?
I've tried using the usual 'Save target as ......' but can't seem to find the target.
It will only be available for a couple more days before being replaced by the next edition.
I only want the Ray Hanna obituary which starts 7 mins into the programme and lasts a few minutes but, if it's easier to download/save the entire programme, that's no problem.
Any help appreciated.

This one came up recently but it doesn't appear with the obvious search inputs.
Just done a manual search and it refers to a program called total recorder - Google or Dogpile should get you there. The other enquirer reckoned it did the job

FL - are you thinking of doing NUMEROUS of these - or just this one?
Reason I ask is it may be easier to get somebody with the ability to grab the program for you, make the sound file that you want, and then e-mail it to you.
If you're looking to do oodles of them - then there are programs out there that we can help you with (as just mentioned above whilst I typed this).

Just the one.
Ray Hanna, one of the subjects of the programme, was a good friend and I'd like to keep a copy.
I'm not bothered whether it's that part or the entire programme - whichever is easier.
If anyone with the necessary software and skill can do it and email me the file that would be wonderful.

Thanks so much to everyone for the help.
I've now got two copies.
Ray was a good friend for about 25 years so it means a lot to me to have a copy to keep. If anyone hasn't listened to the programme, I recommend it. Two of the pilots who flew in the first three years of the Red Arrows describe flying with arguably the best display pilot ever, and unarguably one of the best ever.
PPRuNe is wonderful.

Audacity
For recording to disk I recommend Audacity. It's free, universally acknowledged and brilliant. You can save/edit as wav or MP3.
Basically it will record whatever you can hear on your soundcard....
Installation and use is straightforward for Windows or Linux PC's... but do follow the instructions as there is a second file to load in the installation directory (for licensing reasons) to enable MP3.
