Ezy Pan Pan Pan At Man

Hi

Just called Pan Pan Pan with Easy 7038 for an approach on 24R @ 1819hrs 05/12/04

sorry no more details

all seems ok, a/c landing on 24R, after a couple arrived on 24L, an unusual sight at MAN.

Interesting they should choose Manch to divert to and not Liverpool.

I presume there'll be some specific operational reason for it.

Niteflite

Leading edge slats stuck, max flaps 15 and no antiskid plus possible other unknowns.

Rejected LPL due short runway and then rejected 24L after initially accepting an ILS to 24R with a visual break for the left. The reject was when he was finally given a VOR/DME for the left. It sounded as if he might have accepted the original offer.

Airport was apparantly considering refusing his diversion until he declared a PAN - then of course no contest.

Cleared on AE and stopped due numerous spurious alarms, but unfortunately had fire service behind him blocking the main, so 4 aircraft landed on the Left.

Aircaft towed to stand with passengers on board for a normal disembarkment - but at wrong airport!

All in all - as one would expect - a copybook handling of a situation that can occur at any time. No panic and people getting paid to do their jobs.

If anyone has any problems with the details in this posting then I will rapidly delete it! Don't want nasty journalist getting the wrong story do we?

Didn't they narrowly miss a school that was unfortunately built half way along the runway, just behind the hospital and next to the old folks home with the large play area nearby for the kids from the blind school?

MG - 'cos people got fed up with this sort of post with this on R&N!

No disrespect to 'egcc', of course - we try to cater for all levels of interest. However, IF your info came from a scannner, be careful in 'publishing' the information. There has been an extensive thread on another forum about the legality of scanners. If firmly pressed legally, Pprune could not guarantee anonymity for those who do.
