Renewal - ATO

For any renewal, we have to go via an ATO who will decide the amount of training required.

Such training should be performed on the aircraft available within the ATO.

However does the proficiency check has to be done within the aircraft linked to the ATO, or can it be done on an aircraft not linked to the ATO or even an aircraft linked to a different ATO (but were the examiner is working).

thks

Oh dear, another piece of legislation that's passed me by. Can you kindly provide a reference for that?

The flying can be done on any aircraft. It requires the Head of Training to approve it.

We do it all the time on customers own aircraft.

Thanks Bose. That's what I thought, however it seems our CAA (not uk) seems to be inventing new way of interpreting the rules.

Something else, regarding renewal, how do you assess the training required for a renewal. Do you make a flight/sim session to assess or do you start the training and assess during it how much training will be needed.

I look at logbooks and check experience and how longs rating has expire by and then decide if they need a flight with me to assess or whether they can go straight into a test etc.

We do many, many renewals every year. You get pretty used to working out what's needed.

It will be a seminar and training as required to pass the test.

I have a course running in Jerez until the 29th that I could slot you on.

memories of px 17th Oct 2016 13:47

tempting, but my theory is rusty, i was thinking of digesting pooleys manuals over the winter and renewing in the spring. is all the training and testing done in Jerez?, would the same crieria apply to my lapsed examiner rating as well?

S-Works 17th Oct 2016 13:57

We cover the theory as part of the training. All training as testing done in Jerez.

Examiner is a totally different kettle of fish. You would need to reapply to become and examiner and if accepted do the standards training again and give the AOC.

many thanks for the information, i'll be in touch.
