What's the key element that lead you to good decision during an in flight technical problem, in the UK's airline? I mean is there a memory guide like

Dodar seems to be the buzz word used a lot of the time.
D - Diagnose
O - Options
D - Decide
A - Allocate
R - Review

any help? out of interest what prompted the question?

Shold that not be DORDAR?

The R being Risk / Benefit Analysis.

Wasn't this asked in Techlog recently? There were plenty more responses there.

The (main) problem with DO(R)DAR is that lots of people need help completing the 'diagnose' element...

Failure Management Policy

The above posts give good guidance, however a Pilot should also be aware of the following.
" A crew is expected to perform to the best of their ability when a problem occurs, either known or unknown. In the unknown case the crew have to attempt to control the aircraft flight path so that they have time to solve the problem."
