Renewal test

Can anyone tell me the requirements for the renewals skills test for someone with a very lapsed rating.

I'm just preparing someone for this test and, in particular, I can't remember if there's a navigation element to the test or if it's just handling.

There is no specific navigation element in the renewal proficiency check. However, your refresher course might include some navigation at the FI's discretion.

However, the Safety Training Module requires navigation to be covered in the FI test either on the ground or in the air. There's nothing to stop the FIE giving you navigation as your basic airborne exercise. On the ground you may well be asked to explain your preferred method for navigation.
