Flying Instructors & Examiners A place for instructors to communicate with one another because some of them get a bit tired of the attitude that instructing is the lowest form of aviation, as seems to prevail on some of the other forums!

CAAFU examiner requirements

Just an off the cuff question... I was wondering if anyone knew what the requirements are to be a CAAFU examiner, and maybe being employed as a staff IRE for example. I am just curious more than anything since I am years away from having the required experience. Do the CAA head hunt people or can you apply for such a position.

Any info would be interesting.....

From what have seen of the chaps.

1. High tolerance of bordom

2. Sick sense of humour.

3. Healthy consumtion of a wee dram.

4. Have a very broad knowledge of everything aviation

5. And an ability to lie when dishing out weights for doing M&B calcs when flying singles. Mind you most exmainers have this ability when a suggestion of not taking full tanks is made.
