Flying Instructors & Examiners A place for instructors to communicate with one another because some of them get a bit tired of the attitude that instructing is the lowest form of aviation, as seems to prevail on some of the other forums!

Simpler Flight Instructor Requirements

I would like to seek your opinion concerning the requirements for instructing at up to NPPL level. Years ago, there was a PPL/FI rating which allowed people to instruct for remuneration without holding a commercial licence, that subsequently became the Restricted BCPL/FI rating giving 'grandfather rights' to PPL/FIs. However, new FIs needed BCPLs to instruct at PPL level; then came JARs and it was necessary to have 'commercial level knowledge' to instruct.

Now we have the NPPL, what would be your views about an instructor rating on the NPPL permitting paid instruction to be conducted by NPPL holders?
