CAA GE Exams - permitted equipment

The August 2024 revision of Standards Document 11 has amended the list of equipment which candidates may use during an examination by removing an 'Electronic Flight Computer' as being permitted.

See https://www.caa.co.uk/publication/download/12697 .

Thanks Beagle. In fact, now I'm going through it again, I remember getting as far as 6.1.7 (thinking nothing's changed so far) when the phone rang. Must have lost my place when I went back to it.

When was the last time anyone bought a Electronic flight computer.
I have one in the draw 25 years old, battery flat for 24 years!

Now using a App. on the phone is a different matter, but CAA stuck in the last century.

but would you buy a whizz wheel instead? At least with the electronic computer you could get the app on your phone to practice and borrow one for the exam (our school has one you could borrow for a few quid)

I tell students to buy wizz wheel off ebay, don't pay more than £20.
Also show them the apps. to practise on and easyvfr4 for getting notams.
