Flying Instructors & Examiners A place for instructors to communicate with one another because some of them get a bit tired of the attitude that instructing is the lowest form of aviation, as seems to prevail on some of the other forums!

SFCL SPL

Hi,
With the introduction of SFCL in December all instructors who apply for a licence will become an FI(s). What happens to the BGA Full cats, do they automatically become examiners or do they simply become the same as an Ass cat?

I was intrigued by your question and looked for an answer. I hadn't realised quite how poor the CAA website is. I knew that in the EASA process glider licensing was steadily pushed to the right. Did it ever come to be? Now that the UK and EASA have gone their seperate ways one might have expected reference to it to have been removed from the CAA website but its still there. I tried to simply find out how to obtain a glider licence but I couldn't find a simple satisfactory answer.
