IFR Flight Plan
I have previously filed all my flight plans through my schools in Sweden and Spain using Rocket Route.
For the occasional IFR flight plan in the UK what do other people use? I wouldn’t be doing it often enough to warrant a RocketRoute subscription and I understand SkyDemon is only VFR. Are there any other good platforms, or do people even go into/call the tower to file them. I’d be interested to hear any suggestions

AFPEX. It’s free of charge, you just need to apply for an account online and wait for your login details to be sent to you. There is a good user on it and also the CAA produce CAP694 which is useful.

AutoRouter. Free, quick, comprehensive, no app but website works fine on phone.
Unless it has changed significantly in the last 6 or so years, AFPEX would be my absolute last choice somewhere just after sending a doodled plan on a napkin by pigeon.

EuroFPL.eu
we use it at work. Flight plan automatically fully validated before submission along with direct emails for updates/delays/cancels. Allows a few free plans a month. Also automatically gets briefing pack for your route.
afpex is totally rubbish for most people:
a. It needs java usually on a pc (So no mobile access)
b. It’s a pig to access on business IT
c. It assumes huge amounts of obscure knowledge
d. It doesn’t integrate with flight planning tools
e. It rapidly becomes hideously expensive if you use for any commercial purpose.
