LOC approach with a G1000
Is there another way than the post-it note to disable the GS so that you can train for a LOC approach where an ILS is available?

Cheat. Set a "Direct To" and OBS on the GPS.

Just ask ATC to switch the GS off.

Does it have a separate CB for the GS receiver?
