Flying Instructors & Examiners A place for instructors to communicate with one another because some of them get a bit tired of the attitude that instructing is the lowest form of aviation, as seems to prevail on some of the other forums!

Aircraft selection

If you were opening a new flight school, what aircraft type would you select for initial training?

I have a few types in mind, but I'm curious as to what other instructors would choose. And arguments for/against of course...

A few considerations:
-Home airport is a bit over 3000ft elevation.
-Multi/IF training is to be done in a Baron 58. Not negotiable.
-AVGAS and JetA1 are readily available. MOGAS is not possible.
-The boss doesn't seem to like 'old aeroplanes'.
-Looking at a fleet size of 6x [ab-initio trainer].
-The boss already has a C172 that can be used.

All very hypothetical of course...

Sounds like you need another 5 C172s as close to the same as your Boss's as you can get.
