Single Pilot IR- 700 hours?

Hi,

Not sure if this is the correct forum, feel free to move it if its not.

Could anyone clarify the rules regarding single pilot IR minimum hours? Several people have stated that a minimum of 700 hours are required, however, I can find no reference to it in CAP 804 etc. Is this simply an insurance requirement?

Does this rule apply for only passenger carrying operations on an AOC or does this also apply to private operations? Also, does this relate to single or multi engine?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
