Flying Instructors & Examiners A place for instructors to communicate with one another because some of them get a bit tired of the attitude that instructing is the lowest form of aviation, as seems to prevail on some of the other forums!

A good mixture of experience and enthusiasm works well for us. It would be nice to see done more of the retired pilots coming back to instruction. We have a couple on board and they are a welcome addition; even on rainy days when their tales of experience brighten the day for students.

Good weather the last couple of days = we need some more instructors now at Perth, Cumbernauld, and Glasgow International.

Me too - it's a while since I was based at Edinburgh.

Interesting discussion in that it has produced some information relating to actual flying instructor jobs.

It's a shame there isn't a forum for advertising such positions. Not all flying clubs/schools want full-time instructors nor do instructors necessarily need full-time employment.

Trying to match employer requirements with instructor experience and availability seems to be something that has only ever existed by word of mouth. Maybe it isn't necessary, but it sometimes seems to be a lottery hoping that a job is available and trying to find the right instructor to fill it.

On a slightly different subject - what is the potential for a UK FI getting work at European schools? There seems to be a lot of schools advertising and taking UK business to Eastern Europe and Spain and I wonder if they'd look favorably on an English mother tongue to look after such students?
