MEI or cfii

Hi everybody,
I am actually working on my cfi initial and i was wondering wish step i must take next, going for my MEI or CFII, because i have heard that most of the flight schools don't let you go on multi engine in your first year even with your CFI MEI? Is that true? If yes better for me to go for my CFII so i can have more student even on single engine...any advices exepriences?? Thank you.

CFI-I first. You'll get a better return on your investment.

cfii is a nice one to do. it consolidates your instrument knowledge

multi i later on is nice too, but it is very demanding and perhaps the most dangerous of the type of instruction to do. I know of one instructor who insisted on practicing real one engine go around, got below vmca and crashed, killing the student.

is there a requirement anymore or was there ever one that you had to get at least one student through ppl before the next instructor rating????
