Redbird C-172 rejuvenation
Among the Oshkosh displays this year was a rejuvenated older model C-172SP. Designated the "RedHawk", it sports Aspen and Bendix/King cockpit and 135 hp Continental Centurion turbo-diesel engine and MT composite prop. Single-lever power management makes it more jet-like for airline trainees, a likely target market.
Claimed advantage of the use of Jet-A fuel is $3K for a 30-hr PPL course, considering reduced SFC and cheaper fuel. (Still seems a bit optimistic??).
