JAR FCL 1.325 Question

Hi guys,

I have one question regarding FI(A) rating restriction (JAR FCL 1.325):

What happens to your FI(A) rating if you don't have 100 hrs to remove your restriction in 3 years (period of validity of FI(A) rating)?

How can you revalidate the rating then?

JAR-FCL 1.355 states that if you don't meet the experience requirements (which have changed by the way, now 50/15) then you must attend an FI Seminar and sucessfully undergo the proficiency flight with an FIE.

Your first renewal and every other one thereafter must contain the proficiency/FIE option.

Sometimes the national authority will not run or sponsor seminars that frequently... you may need to plan WELL ahead if you want to stay flying.

Having the rating restricted or unrestricted makes no difference to your proficiency check - it's still the same process.

Bear in mind that most European countries do not issue a FI(Restricted) rating as the UK do, they simply Restrict the FI rating until the experience requirement has been met. That process is separate to the revalidation process, which is the same whether or not the Restriction has been lifted.

Duchess are you sure? I read the part FCL today, and it says 100 hrs and 25 solos... not 50hrs and 15 solos...

FH you you are confusing the upgrade requirement with the revalidation requirement. 100 hours instruction and 25 supervised solos is the upgrade requirement to remove the Restriction; it is not time limited. Duchess Driver is perfectly correct regarding the revalidation requirement which also included a 100 hour requirement, but that was amended by JAA Long Term Exemption No 79 adopted by the JAR-FCL Licensing Sectorial Team at its 20th meeting. It has been with us for about 4 years now.

Your original question said:
How can you revalidate the rating then?
By meeting the requirements of JAR-FCL 1.355 as amended by LTE 79.
