TEA (Test for Aviation English) exam

Hi there!
I have a several questions for you examiners:

I currently work in ground ops for an italian helicopter company.
One of my colleagues told me the other day that I should apply to become a TEA examiner, I had a look at the requirements to become one and it looks that I have them (a degree in an english speaking country is enough). Also the cost to obtain the certificate in italy is only 150 euros which is much less than the UK from what I see.

I would quite like to have some extra info but cant find much on the web

Once i get the certificate, what happens next? Do i have to go looking around for piltos/ATC that need to do the test? Or do I need to join some kind of school?
And also can I keep my current job, or is it a full time job?
Are they many examiners around or is it quite easy to find a job?
And does anyone know anything about the salary of the examiner??

Thanks!

for anyone that might be interested in becoming a tea examiner, i spoke with an examiner the other day and i figured out how it works:

to become an examiner u need to follow a two week course at mayflower college in plymouth (there might be other shools but i dont know of any) and if you pass the exam u r apprroved to be a ttea rater.

Once u have the qualification u need to find an approved tea center where u can examin pilots/atc.

On the economic side, the exam typically costs 130 euros (in italy at least), half of the money goes to mayflower collage the other half is split between the tea center and the examiner so at the end of the day the examiner earns about 30 euros per exam. Considering tje fact that to become tea examiner u need to take the course that costs, if i remember correctly, approx 1900euros i guess it would take a lot of exams before u get your money back!!

And from the proposed CAA Scheme of charges:
When making an application to become, or continue to act as, an approved Language
Proficiency Assessment Body, the applicant shall pay to the CAA the relevant charge
specified in Table 38:
a) Initial application for grant of approval £3,570
b) Annual charge for renewal or continuation of approval £2,550
c) Approval variation for a full review of course manuals or where a site visit is
required in respect of a change to the main site of the organisation
£1,530

Grrr

Ok so you need approx 1k upfront for the course, plus (at least in the UK) as whopity said:

pay to the CAA the relevant charge
a) Initial application for grant of approval £3,570
b) Annual charge for renewal or continuation of approval £2,550
c) Approval variation for a full review of course manuals or where a site visit is

Something is not clear, how is it possible to demand so much money when you are actually earning 30 euros per exam?? aviation for you....

Perhaps that is why people in Europe are being charged up to 500 Euros for a test! A closer inspection reveals an underlying case of corruption.
