Flying Instructors & Examiners A place for instructors to communicate with one another because some of them get a bit tired of the attitude that instructing is the lowest form of aviation, as seems to prevail on some of the other forums!

Flying Instructor Vacancies

With the so called downturn and a flying school near to me will be closing on Mondays is there much demand flying instructor wise. How is the market for someone who would be thinking of instructing just at weekends?

You won't have trouble finding work just at weekends.

that's called part time work.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Those are the high busy days. Yes you could find part time work about this time. There's a high shortage all over the UK. Just look at FTN magazine.

Not just the UK

Don't think it's just in the UK . There is a shortage of Instructors in Oz as well, we have 14 working with us, 50% both M&F and cannot get enough on the weekends eg. last sunday I was the only instructor working and we could have accommodated 5 or 6.

Anyone know what instructor pay is like down under and whether a VISA can be obtained on the premise of working as an instructor? I bet it's a right ball ache...

Salaries are becoming ALOT more common than they have been in the past, which is a start. Still not great, but I've seen £25K for a PPL instructor on more than one occasion this year.

Do you think the salaries for FI will go up should the new licencing law regarding a PPL teaching on a PPL come in force?

Could anyone answer the question VFE asked ?
Would the Australian government issue a workingvisa to a European who has FI rating ?
If a flightschool would like to hire me as a FI, must he sponsor me, just like in the USA ?
If anyone can put some light on this issue, I know a lot of guys would be happy

Thanks everyone and fly safe!
