Twin Rating USA

Hi! I'd be really grateful for advice.I am a UK based JAA twin instructor. In August I'm planning a trip to Florida with two friends, both JAA ppl.Initially it was going to be a holiday and we were going to hire a SE aircraft for trips, but my friends have shown an interest in coming home with a twin rating. My question is,is it possible for me to hire a twin from a JAA school and do the course with them, either with the test over there or when back home. Will there be problems with TSA,Visas etc?I am not an FAA instructor.Also.advice on schools likely to be up for this would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

I think a Us flight school will raise an eyebrow (and call the FBI) if you turn up as a non-visa'd, non-FAA licensed pilot to to some private training!

Thanks for takin the time to reply.I wasn't actually trying to go illegal, although I probs worded it wrong. The question was more based as to what visa's/TSA are required,ie is it a rating or an add on and do you need to go through all of the official proceedures if its a JAA approved flight school,I would guess the answer is yes but just wondered if anyone else had done anything similar,Thanks.

Mr Man,

As far as visa's go, you can't actually get a visa unless you are going to do an "Approved course" in this case (and many others) this is'nt an approved course (nor is hiring for fun).

With regard to TSA - I'm not sure - if you get TSA clearance then it means you wish to fly BUT then border control will say you dont have the right visa (even though there is NO visa you can apply for!) chicken and egg.

wether you could do the JAA training over there (as you are a rated instructor) and come back and do the test again I'm not sure.

Hopefully theres someone out there who has been recently in a similar situation or just for hour building, would be really good to know as I would love to go back out to the US and fly for fun someday

best of luck

There is no chance you doing what you have stated. Unless you got yourself a US licence you could not fly anyway.

I would revert to plan 1 and rent an aircraft and go and enjoy yourself.

You can get yourself a US licence based on your JAA licence (FAR 61.75) and it would have your multi rating on it.
