Age Limit for Engines
Hi
Can anyone answer me these question please.
1. What is the Maximum age for single, piston engines on training aircraft?
2. Maximum hours including any extentions..
3. Lycoming or continental..
I am led to believe that Continentals are the more expensive to operate?
Any help would be much appreciated.

not really the right forum - age/hours are same as any aircraft used for public transport - there is a 12 year age limit on engines, hours vary according to engine type, usually about 2,000-2,500 plus 20%extension.

Agree with foxmoth, maybe not right forum. But for example....
Lycoming O-235 (Tomahawk) 2400 hours or 12 years. Extendable subject to inspection by 20% (2880 or 14.4 years)
Continental O-200 1800 hours or 12 years, hence 2160 hour/14.4 years 'on condition'
Gypsy Major 1500 hours, but no calendar life limit - yahoo
I had an O-235 that went to 2876 hours, and was a 'better' engine at that age than the (zero-time) one which replaced it
